SPEAKER:Gabe Flatt
Barrister and Solicitor SunLife Financial Gabe Flatt holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Western Ontario and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2010. He worked in private practice for 9 years, practicing primarily insurance defense litigation with a number of prominent Bay Street law firms. He joined Sun Life in 2019, where he has held various leadership positions including Director and Managing Counsel (Acting), and currently Senior Legal Counsel in the Canada Litigation Department. In this capacity, he represents Sun Life in group disability, individual insurance and wealth related litigation matters across Canada, while advising the company on risk management, compliance, real estate, employment, Human Resources and life and disability insurance issues. He represents Sun Life in the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association on behalf of the Canada litigation group and sits on working groups within the organization. He has a focus on thought leadership and has written and presented extensively on legal issues in Canada, both within his organization and externally. |
