The pharmacy landscape continues to be dynamic and complex. This session aims to provide an overview of current trends and cost pressures within benefit plans and key factors that plans will need to continue to closely monitor and manage moving forward, including:
  1. Providing an overview of the near-term drug pipeline and therapies expected to have a significant impact on plans in the coming years.
  2. Focused look at the impact of drug therapies for Obesity, the drug pipeline in this clinical area and coverage considerations.
  3. Increasing utilization of Hormone Replacement Therapy for the management of Menopausal symptoms and recent marketing of new non-hormonal therapies
  4. Recent trends and clinical developments in the areas of Depression, ADHD and Alzheimer's Disease
  5. Recent developments surrounding National Pharmacare and The National Strategy for Drugs for Rare Diseases

Scott is a Pharmacist and Director of Plan Analytics at Cubic Health, a health plan management and analytics company based in Toronto. Cubic works with large, self-insured plan sponsors including single- and multi-employer plans, Health & Welfare Trusts and Employee Life and Health Trusts in both the public and private sectors. 
 
In his role at Cubic, Scott works with plan sponsors using objective, data-driven analytics to optimize the efficiency and sustainability of their benefit plan designs. In particular, Scott focuses predominantly in the areas of Predictive Analytics, Drug Pipeline Research, Population Health Analytics and Integrated Drug, Extended Health Care and Disability Analytics. 
 
Prior to joining the Cubic team, Scott worked in community pharmacy focused on specialty compounding and has extensive experience in the fields of chronic pain management and mental health. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Western University as well as his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees both from the University of Waterloo.
